Namuwongo slum popularly known as ‘soweto’ is located in Makindye Division, one of the five administrative divisions of Kampala
It is bordered by Lugogo to the north, Nakawa to the northeast, Kiswa and Bugoloobi to the east, Muyenga to the southeast, Kisugu and Kabalagala to the south, Kibuli to the west and Kololo to the northwest.
It’s also popular for its amazing, vibrant and very welcoming people.

What to Expect
Discover a grassroots projects that are working to improve the conditions of people living in the Namwongo slums. Walk through the streets of Namuwongo, visiting the bustling markets. Support the local artisans by buying some of the hand made products. Hear stories from Namuwongo slum residents. Learn some popular dancing strokes and original compositions from the children dance crews. They always have the best skills to show off. Volunteer in a health promotion activity; Other activities include: skilling the youths with relevant 21 century skills among other activities. Build long lasting relationships
